This is a non-partisan post to our blog, intended to highlight an issue that is beginning to affect all of us as we move from one presidential administration to another. I'm writing with sincere regret that our nation has allowed big tech to control certain freedoms that many of us have fought for, with many even sacrificing their lives for. The Preamble to the Declaration of Independence tells us "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." The Constitution ensures us of those rights, yet we have been submissive to the control of those with deep pockets and government influence to the point of losing sight of the freedoms that we are quickly beginning to lose.
As an organization built for veterans, we enjoy the ability our social media platforms provide for our lives, enabling us to exercise our unalienable rights and promote our efforts in our pursuit for Happiness. Many other organizations such as PatrioticMe does the same by marketing their line of apparel through Facebook while providing the Tunnels to Towers Foundation with a portion of their proceeds. Today, my wife approached me with concern regarding an effort by Facebook to censor ads for PatrioticMe and close their ad account. Keeping in mind this retailer is nonpartisan and sells nothing that should be construed as controversial unless you find the colors Red, White and Blue offensive.
Where does it stop? I'm ashamed to think that we've become so passive of patriotism that it may not come to an end anytime soon. There must be a nonpartisan coming together of our people to nonviolently promote and uphold the Constitution of what at one time was a United group of States. I don't know have the answer on how to accomplish this, but I know that if the manipulation continues, we are in danger of losing everything this great nation once stood for.
