  • 6:03 p.m. - Financial Review

  • 6:05 p.m. - Discussion of new client acknowledgment form.

  • The new form will provide a release of liability and define safety requirements and expectations. Proof of veteran status is required, and an active membership must be maintained for eligibility to fish.

  • 6:10 p.m. - Fundraiser - Trip Giveaway

  • The organization will create a fundraiser to cover monthly operating expenses such as fuel, tackle, bait and organization administrative costs. Donors providing $100 or more will be entered into a raffle for a 6-hour inshore fishing trip. 4 names will be drawn for separate trips for up to 3 people each. You do not need to be present to win and multiple donations from a single entry are eligible to win in each drawing. The date of the drawing was originally posted for April 29. Since no entries have been made, this will change to May 30 at 6.p.m.

  • 6:15 p.m. - New Boat Discussion

  • The boat currently utilized by the organization is the personal asset of Kevin and Vicki Edwards. This presents a few challenges when it comes to commercial insurability for other drivers. Additionally, during a recent tournament outing, a safety concern for disabled occupants in the boat at speed became evident. Due to the construction of the helm and seat design, a disabled occupant was ejected from the boat at speed in inclement weather. The replacement boat will take into consideration grab bars and seats designed to hold an occupant in place should the boat catch a trough or come in contact with an obstruction. An agreement was made by Kevin Edwards to fund (finance) $50,000 of the boat expense and try to raise remaining funds through various fundraising efforts. Additionally, any funds received above and beyond payoff during the sale of the boat currently being used, will be donated by Kevin and Vicki Edwards to accommodate the new boat purchase. The boat will be titled in the name of Casting for a Cause Disabled Veterans Outdoors and remain a corporate asset. All assets owned by C4aC on the existing boat will be transferred to the new boat, sold for fair market value and funds returned to the organization, or donated to a like non-profit organization. If at any time C4aC obtains the necessary funds, the corporation will make the monthly payments or pay off any remaining note on the boat. The boat will be operated as outlined in the required corporate insurance policy. Additional drivers designated by the CEO or the Board of Directors will be required hold a boaters safety certificate and demonstrate boating proficiency prior to being added to the insurance policy. This decision received full board approval.

  • 6:20 p.m. - 2022 Tournament Season

  • As discussed during the annual meeting held in October 2021, we have taken a look at the expenses associated with continuing our competition as a marketing effort in the Elite Redfish Series. After seeing the costs incurred during our participation in the Slidell event, C4aC is unable to support participation in the remaining events and remain good stewards of the funds provided unless professional tournament entries and expenses are fully funded by a participating individual/team, or a private sponsor. All costs for the Slidell Louisiana event were paid by Kevin Edwards and Jay Yancey (The Local on 17). This decision received full board approval.

  • 6:25 p.m. - Executive Director of Tournaments and Safety

  • The board approved Chad Battles as our Executive Director of Tournaments and Safety. Chad is a disabled veteran that has fished professionally for a number of years. He is familiar with many of the areas where we fish and was key in our ability to make good decisions regarding weather and safety in Louisiana. Chad has been a member of the organization since January 2021. His job will be to review team float plans, local float plans, assess weather and any action plans for boater safety. Additional duties will include pulling resources together to assist with tournaments hosted by the organization.
